Missoula, MT 59801
Home ReSource is a community sustainability center in Missoula, MT committed to reducing waste and building a more just, vibrant, and sustainable local economy. They collect and sell reusable building materials, channel materials to those in need, educate the community with the knowledge & skills necessary to reduce waste, and provide leadership & expertise to move Missoula toward its Zero Waste goal. As a triple-bottom-line nonprofit business, we bring environmental, social, and economic benefits to the community we serve through our retail store as well as our Materials Giving, Work, Volunteer, Education, and Zero Waste Community Support Programs.
Since opening in 2003, we’ve helped put approximately 15,000 tons of building materials back to work in Montana homes, offices, playgrounds, gardens, dog houses and bird houses, authored the Missoula Zero Waste Resolution & ZERO by FIFTY Zero Waste Plan, reached over 2,000 5th graders through our Zero Waste Ambassadors Program (ZWAP!)—a STEM-aligned, inquiry-based education program, donated more than $50,000 in supplies to schools, nonprofits, and others in need through our Materials Giving Program, and benefited 300+ individuals through mentorship, skills training, part-time work, and references for those experiencing barriers to employment (at-risk youth, veterans, people with disabilities or histories of addiction or incarceration) through our Work and Youth Programs. Since 2015, HomeReSource has hosted three artists-in-residence.
