About the Artists:
Lydia McKinney is a Salish descendant and an enrolled member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, based on the Flathead Reservation. Her art practice centers on Indigenous crafts, such as weaving, beading, sewing, and regalia construction. She explores connections between ancestry, language, motherhood, and everyday life. Through weaving, McKinney engages intergenerational knowledge as a living practice, creating work that honors cultural continuity, care, and the presence of women’s hands across time.

Mars Sandoval is an enrolled member of the Isleta Pueblo, and a descendant of the Salish-Qlispe and Navajo peoples. Mars grew up on the Flathead Reservation to a family of artists, and has been drawing since he was a kid. Mars attended Nkwusm salish language immersion school from 3yrs old to 8th grade, and attended Two Eagle River Highschool. Mars uses multiple mediums to create expressions that are both personal and external reflections of life on the reservation, as well as life as an indigenous person in contemporary times. Mars Currently is attending Salish Kootenai College for Salish Culture And Language Studies (CALS), and currently resides in Charlo with fiance Lydia and son Kwkwusm.
