About the Artist:
Pilot, poet, and photographer, Shawnee Real Bird’s home is in the Wolf Teeth Mountains. Inspired by the sunsets of her ancestors, the Crow and Northern Cheyenne, Shawnee lives a neo-indigenous way of life. Through her work, Shawnee provides a blended lens in which to view Native life ways. Shawnee is an author and curator for the Curtis Legacy Foundation, a guest curator at the Muskegon Museum of Art, and the first Native American woman to achieve flight licenses from the Northern Plains tribes.
