Stoney Samsoe. Executive Director, co-founder.

Stoney received her MFA in sculpture and painting from Illinois State University and undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts, Psychology, and pre-nursing from The University of Montana. Her work has shown nationally and she has been the recipient of numerous awards.

Stoney is a lover of art, science, nature, and caring for others. Motivated to bolster the role of the arts, and interdisciplinary conversations in Montana, she co-founded WMCI/Open AIR in 2019. Stoney believes that creativity & curiosity are key ingredients that make up healthy communities and works tirelessly to cultivate that in her arts-informed practice.

When not focused on WMCI & Open AIR Stoney enjoys hikes with her husband and dog Heath, as well as gardening, time in the studio, continuing education, and connecting with others.
